Met-Seam Ltd MS Shingles

Met-Seam® manufactures MS Shingles which will give a very modern and distinguished appearance to any building. They can be manufactured from Zinc, Copper. Aluminium, Steel and Stainless Steel.

MS Shingles can be used on facades or roofs with a pitch of over 35°. MS Shingles are interlocking panels sometimes called tiles or slates and are fixed to a fully supporting substrate using secrete fixed clips.

The MS Shingles are folded on all four sides, two sides are folded over in one direction and the other two side sides are folded over in the opposite direction, the MS Shingle clips hook over the fold on the MS Shingle and are screwed to the substrate using stainless steel screws, the next consecutive shingle interlocks with the previous one and hides the clip and fixing.

The substrate must be a good quality 18 mm WBP plywood or a micro rib composite panel. On facades, a breathable membrane such as Klober Permo Light should be used below the MS Shingles and on roof applications, a structured membrane such as Klober Permo Sec Metal should be used.

The main field installation is quite straight forward to install, however, the setting out is critical for both the appearance and the most economical layout at openings and change of surface direction. Special sized and shaped MS Shingles can be produced to suit as well as half MS Shingles etc…

The MS Shingles can be installed in straight rows in a brick pattern or they can be laid diagonally.

MS Shingles are normally bespoke design, they can be square, rectangular or diamond (rhombus, parallelogram in shape. Our Rectangular MS Shingles can be of various lengths and widths which offer the designer great freedom of choice and pattern layout. To avoid an ‘oil canning’ effect on the surface it is best to use a slightly thicker metal, (e.g. in zinc 0.8 or 1.0mm is best).

Our technical department will be happy to discuss your design, details and offer the various options available for both appearance and the most economical sizes for the different types of metals.

See our MS Shingles brochure for more information about our copper shingles, zinc shingles, aluminium shingles and stainless steel shingles or visit our portfolio gallery to view client projects on which MS Shingles have been installed.

MSPro Standing Seam

Met-Seam® MSPro is a highly engineered standing seam solution which can be used for either a roof or facade. It has all the benefits of a traditional standing seam system in that it is aesthetically pleasing, fully supported and durable, but has the added benefits of being manufactured off site in a quality controlled environment, and due to its unique standing seam design will be installed much quicker than traditional systems.

For the best on site performance Met-Seam® MSPro standing seam system is delivered to site in its own purpose built timber crate with all the panels cut to size and labeled in our factory along with all the matching flashing, underlay, clips, fixings, fascia, soffits, gutters and downpipes. Our ‘kit’ model has proved very successful as much of the work has been sorted prior to the materials arriving on site.

Timing is everything, we strive to get the MSPro system to arrive just in time, we communicate with our installers so that the system does not lay about the site and plan that the site installers arrive at the same time as the kit and because everything they need arrives together in one kit they can stay on the project until it is completed, no more jumping in the van to find forgotten items.

The Met-Seam® MSPro system utilises state of the art design and production with our unique standing seam design which is 40mm high and has a ‘male’ and ‘female’ edge. The male edge houses the clip location lug which also doubles up as an anti capillary action barrier and is profiled into the seam. The clips are placed on to the lug and screwed to the substrate, the female edge of the next panel slips over the previously installed male edge and is snapped into place, thus hiding the clips and fixings. There is no seaming up of the seams or using mechanical or hand tools, once the panel has been snapped into place the next panel is ready for installation and it is that easy, this has been designed to be simple, holding fast to our slogan of …simple by design…!

Warranty Information

Met-Seam® MSPro unlike Traditional standing seam systems comes with a standard warranty covering the system and our installers will give a workmanship warranty covering the same period. This unique partnership ensures that you can be confident; knowing that in the unlikely event that if anything does go wrong it is covered under the warranty.

10 year warranty is a basic warranty and automatically covers all our MSPro systems.

25 year warranty will need to be applied for and agreed before installation starts, we may carry out site inspections to ensure everything is being installed according to our recommendations and any deviation from our standard details will need to be approved beforehand by us.

Both warranties require all components and flashings to be purchased from Met-Seam®.

MSCas Metal Cassette Panels

The Met-Seam® MSCas cassette offers a simple cladding system solution that is stylish and prestigious in appearance. MSCas is manufactured to create Zinc cladding, Copper cladding, Aluminium cladding or Steel cladding. It is self supporting and can easily be installed on a fully supported substrate or a non- continuous metal or timber support framework.

The MSCas Cassettes can be used on both New Build and Refurbishment projects for External Façades, Internal decorative walls and external Soffits.

Each MSCas cassette is profiled along its length with one edge having a ‘leg’ and the other edge a ‘grove’. The cassettes are connected to the supporting structure with stainless steel screws via the ‘grove’ edge, the ‘leg’ of the next consecutive MSCas cassette is slipped into the grove of the previously installed MSCas cassette and thus hiding the fixings and the process is repeated.

MSCas cassettes can be manufactured in a variety of face widths and lengths to your bespoke requirements; however, designing in dimensions that suit the coil sizes will give the most economical installation. They can be manufactured with or without a shadow gap and up to 4.0m long. Depending on the face width and the installation location will determine the thickness of the metal.

MSCas cassettes can be installed either vertically or horizontally using the same methods. MSCas cassettes are supplied as a complete system, with all necessary flashings, trims, fixings, underlay and accessories, which are available in all of the metal options, ensuring compatibility of material finish and quality.

When installing zinc MSCas cassettes a continuous airflow gap of 50mm should be provided up the rear of the MSCas cassettes to eliminate risk of condensation on the back of the zinc. See our article about White Rust which explains the problems which can arise from condensation on Zinc metal when proper ventilation is not maintained.

Care should be taken in the selection of metals as incompatibility between metals and some timbers can cause adverse reactions. If unsure please contact us for further information. You can also view an article which provides more information and a table outlining Metal Permissable Contacts.

Our technical department will be happy to discuss your design, details and offer the various cladding options available for both appearance and the most economical sizes for zinc cladding, copper cladding, aluminium cladding and steel cladding.

See our brochure for further product information and our portfolio gallery of projects for which MSCas was deployed as the chosen cladding system.
